RankerAMG

The Challenge
Founded in 2005, RankerAMG is a leading commercial architectural cladding systems builder in California. The company鈥檚 growth is largely due to its dedicated and highly experienced team. However, Ranker AMG鈥檚 financial workflows were hindered by manual, paper-heavy processes and an overreliance on its Controller, Lisa Coddington.
A skilled multitasker, Coddington manages all financial operations鈥攁ccounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), collections, financial statements, and insurance. As you can imagine, every minute of her time is precious. But before Siteline, she was spending 20 hours each month managing pay applications across numerous Excel spreadsheets. This tedious process involved:
- collecting billing updates from each project manager (PM),聽
- compiling pay applications, and
- updating their accounting software with the correct billing amounts.
鈥淭here were nights I鈥檇 work until midnight or 1 AM just to ensure I got all the pay applications compiled and submitted before their deadlines,鈥 shared Coddington.聽
Recognizing the need for business continuity and operational efficiency, Coddington understood that the company had to modernize processes and reduce reliance on a single individual.
The Solution
Siteline鈥檚 biggest selling point for the RankerAMG team was its ease of use. 鈥淎t first, I was skeptical of Siteline,鈥 admitted Coddington. 鈥淚 didn鈥檛 know if it would make anything easier for me, but it really has! Plus, it was a super simple setup. After submitting ten projects in Siteline, I felt like an expert.鈥 RankerAMG鈥檚 PMs didn鈥檛 even require any training from the Siteline team to begin using it.
Siteline鈥檚 customer success team helped Coddington add the rest of RankerAMG鈥檚 projects into Siteline (around 50)鈥攁nd create the GC-specific forms required for each of them鈥攐ver the next few days. The Siteline team quickly resolved any comments or questions the team had during this transfer. 鈥淏illing is always such a fire drill,鈥 said Coddington. 鈥淚f one of our pay applications is kicked back and not resubmitted by the end of the business day, we鈥檝e missed the billing period. Siteline鈥檚 turnaround time is so fast鈥攊t has really helped ensure that we don鈥檛 miss any critical deadlines.鈥
The Results
Since implementing Siteline, RankerAMG has experienced notable improvements in various aspects of its billing and project management processes. These include:
A 90% Reduction in Time Spent on Pay Apps
Previously, preparing Excel spreadsheets to collect billing information and assemble pay applications consumed 20 hours of Coddington鈥檚 time each month. However, with Siteline's streamlined process, she now spends a mere two hours on this task鈥攐ne hour on the 15th and one hour on the 20th of each month. "It saves me a lot of time, just putting together and sending it to the general contractors, stated Coddington. 鈥淚 no longer have to work late into the night or over the weekend."
Improved Visibility into Billing Status
Siteline has also enhanced the team鈥檚 ability to track the status of pay apps. Now, Dave Ranker鈥攖he company鈥檚 owner鈥攃an review billings while on the go without needing assistance from Coddington outside of regular work hours.
This increased accessibility and transparency facilitates smoother communication and decision-making processes throughout the entire organization, reducing the company鈥檚 dependence on Coddington. In fact, during Coddington's recent vacation in January, the billing processes at RankerAMG remained seamless, showcasing the system's reliability.
Enhanced Cross-Team Coordination
Now, RankerAMGs PMs input billing information directly into Siteline, which automatically generates billing sheets. This has greatly reduced the amount of back-and-forths Coddington was initiating to ensure the billing sheets were up to date and ready for submission. In short, it has made her work life a lot easier.
